ABOUT THE TOWN HALL

The Bauska Town Hall is located in the very centre of the Old Town of Bauska, in the Town Hall Square.

In 1609 Bauska was granted a seal, and in 1615 Duke Friedrich of Courland granted Bauska the privilege to build a town hall. In the 19th century. In the second half of the 19th century, the damaged tower was demolished, and in 1871, the second floor of the building was demolished. In 2010, the reconstruction of the Town Hall began, and today it houses the Tourist Information Centre, the Registry Office; tourist groups can visit the interior exhibition of the Town Hall by prior arrangement, and the Great Hall is available for weddings and other representative events.

  • Guided tour of the exhibition “Weigh and Measure in Bauska!” with the opportunity to weigh and measure and receive a certificate in ancient units.
  • Tour of the 2nd floor interior of the Town Hall – by appointment.
    Tour duration 20-30 minutes, available in Latvian, Russian and English.
