The magnificent Cēsis Castle Park is a romantic place of relaxation designed by the great Count Carl Gustav von Sievers.

The 19th century Castle Park, designed by the owner of the Cēsis Castle Manor, Count Carl Gustav von Sievers (Sievers), is a place of relaxation filled with magnificent landscapes all year round.

The park is home to the ruins of a stone castle built during the reign of the Livonian Order (14th-16th centuries) and the Riekstu Hill, where the oldest inhabitants of Cesis, the Vends, lived (11th-13th centuries).

Count Sievers designed the park for his family to relax in, so various places in the park are named after them. For example, Minador Hill in Castle Park was named after his eldest daughter, while Charles Hill by the pond was named after him. Later, the Count’s son installed a bronze bust of him there, celebrating his father’s success in improving the area. In summer, music often fills the Castle Park, as various concerts take place on its stage. In the warm season, you can also take a boat ride on the park’s pond and watch the white swans and ducks that live there.

The park is also particularly picturesque in winter, when guests can enjoy winter fun surrounded by beautiful snow-covered landscapes – sledging down the park’s hillsides or ice skating on the pond at the foot of Cesis Castle.
