In the Vidzeme Highlands, on the shore of Lake Pulgožņa, there is “Meņģeļi” – the houses where the Jurjāns started to farm in the beginning of the 19th century. The four Jurjāni brothers – Pēteris (1851-1900), Andrejs (1856-1922), Juris (1861-1940) and Pāvuls (1866-1948), who became the founders of Latvian music culture, were born here.
The Memorial Museum “Meņģeļi” was founded in 1990 in memory of the four brothers – musicians Jurjāns, who were born in “Meņģeļi” in the 19th century. in the middle of the 19th century.
The museum organises various events – every 5 years Latvian choir gatherings, various exhibitions.
The territory of the museum covers 8.6 ha. It displays the attractions of the 1998 Song and Dance Celebration “Light Wheel”.
