The cradle of the writer Sudrabu Edžums (1860-1941, real name Eduards Morics Zilbers) was laid in the home of “Siliņu” in Meņģele parish. Several literary characters from the works of Silver Edžus are found here, including the boy Dauka, who was nicknamed “Dullo” for his great curiosity. The name of Silver Edjus is closely linked to the history of Meņģele. His father, Fricis Zilbers, was the organist of the Meņģele church when Baron Schönfogel was the landlord.

In the centre of Meņģele, there is a monument to Silver Edžius by sculptor Vilnis Titan in 1984 and a grove of Dullo Dauka. At the parish boundary between the houses of “Zvaniņi” and “Gneži” on the old bank of the Ogre River in a grove of oaks and birches, a stone with the inscription “Dullais Dauka” carved into it. This was a favourite resting place of the Silver Edges. The grove was planted in 1978 next to seven large oak trees.

An exhibition dedicated to the writer and the parish of Meņģele is located in the former kindergarten building. It displays antiques collected from the houses of the residents of Mengel.
