The castle was built in the second half of the 19th century. Since 1961 the building has housed the Taurupe Secondary School. Around it there is a park with an open plan. The planting is mainly based on local tree species. The Taurupe beech tree grows on the SW side of the park. Taurupe Manor is an architectural monument of local importance.

The Taurupe Museum is located near the manor house – the former manor manager’s house, also known as the “White House”. The museum collects historical materials of the parish and the surrounding area.
