Science Night is a brilliant opportunity for both schoolchildren and families with children to discover just how diverse and exciting science can be. However, experiments, technology, robotics, space, physics and other STEM fields shouldn’t just be explored for one evening a year.
Across Latvia, there are places where you can experience science hands-on – conducting experiments, exploring technology and natural processes, and learning about energy production, robotics, space and the work of scientists. Some of these offers are particularly well-suited to school trips and lessons, whilst others make for interesting destinations for family holidays too.
In the spirit of Researchers’ Night, we have compiled a list of science and STEM destinations for schoolchildren and families across various regions of Latvia. Choose a place that interests you and continue exploring science even after Researchers’ Night!

Kurzemes Region
In Kurzeme, schoolchildren and families can explore science through interactive exhibitions, experiments and hands-on activities. Here, they can learn about physics and robotics, explore space at the planetarium and observatory, and discover natural processes and how technology works.
Latgales Region
In Latgale, it is possible to explore science through experiments, interactive exhibits and technology. There are places available for schoolchildren and families to explore robotics, astronomy, genetics, ecology, technology and engineering.
Rīgas Region
In Riga and the surrounding area, there is a particularly wide range of science destinations to choose from. Pupils and families can visit science centres, take part in experiments and STEM workshops, learn about human anatomy and pharmacy, and explore electricity, energy, technology and the work of scientists.
Vidzemes Region
In Vidzeme, you can begin your scientific adventure with robotics and virtual reality, and continue by exploring space or natural processes. The offer includes both STEM lessons suitable for school groups and places well worth visiting for families with inquisitive children.
Zemgales Region
In Zemgale, it is also possible to learn about science in the contexts where it is used in everyday life – in manufacturing, energy and technology. For schoolchildren and families, this is an opportunity to see how chemistry, materials science, engineering and energy production work in practice.

👨🔬 Science doesn’t end with Researchers’ Night
Researchers’ Night can be the start of an interest in science. Physics, chemistry, space, robotics, engineering and other STEM subjects become much easier to understand if you can not only read about them in a book, but also see and try them out for yourself.
Many of the venues listed here welcome school groups and families all year round. They can therefore serve as destinations for a school trip or educational excursion, or as inspiration for an exploratory family holiday.
